Goldschmidt conference 2022

I'll be presenting the first set of results of our freshly patented system for in situ mineral incubations. We quantified the weathering rates of silicates, phosphates and carbonates at agricultural and forested sites, with important implications for elemental cycling and carbon capture and storage technologies. Looking forward to seeing you there or remotely in a month from now!

New molecular dynamics study of fluid-silicate interfaces released

This study of the nanoscale transport of water and ions reveals some important couplings between thermodynamic gradients and matter and energy fluxes controlling mineral reactivity at larger scales. To learn more, you can now find it in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C.

2022 field sampling schedule confirmed

Three exciting campains ahead in the scope of the ERC MOBIDIC, starting this month with a first screening of microbial communities thriving in Icelandic basaltic aquifers. Another campain with follow in the fall with our collaborators from Bénédicte Menez and Emmanuelle Gerard from IPGP and Andri Stefansson the University of Iceland. Coming up next : sampling microbial communities associated with lava flows on Réunion Island, with the help of Frédéric Feder from CIRAD.

Geopolymers on fire

In this study, just accepted in CCR, we investigate the effect of partial replacement of metakaolin by Ca-hydroxide on the micro- and nanostructure of AAMK exposed to high temperatures, with important implications for the sustainable building industry.

Upcoming Talks

We have been invited to the 2021 ACS Spring Meeting to present the result of our Molecular Dynamics simulations on reverse osmosis processes at nanoporous silicate interfaces. This study will also be featured at the 2021 Goldschmidt Conference together with another presentation by Celia Aranda Reina on our field work at the Monte Perdido glacier forefield (Spain). This Fall, I will be presenting our latest results on mineral-microorganisms interactions at the first Franco-German OZCAR-TERENO Meeting.
