1. Oscillations in the olfactory bulb

The first topic have have been interested in is the generation of the prominent 40-80 Hz oscillations in the olfactory bulb. Comparing experimental results from S. Lagier with a rather general modeling approach, I became fairly convinced that these oscillations are generated by the global inhibitory feedback which is received by excitatory neurons. A simple predictive model of bulbar oscillation is derived from this approach (Bathellier et al. 2006, Lagier et al. 2007). This model still needs to be further challenged and refined to be integrated to the full dynamical behavior of the olfactory bulb network. |
