I really love the Charter font by Practical Typography. It used to be available as Bitstream Charter in Ubuntu but was removed because non-free. The one linked here is a remake. However it has limited support for special characters.

The Charis font is a very similar one that supports many characters.

These are download links for the truetype/opentype font packages, e.g. for LibreOffice/Word. For (pdf)LaTeX, the charter font is part of the TexLive distribution.
