Fly
crosses
All species of
the D. melanogaster subgroup show pre-mating
reproductive
barriers. However, individuals of most species can be induced to mate
with members of at least one other species in the laboratory.
Green arcs
indicate species pairs that produce
viable fertile hybrids and red arcs those that produce viable sterile
hybrids [1,2].
